Filters are how you narrow a search from "everyone with this title" to "exactly the people I sell to or hire from." This page lists the filters Conextly offers and how to use them together.
The filters
Title. The job title to match. Use a Boolean string here to catch every variation of a role. The single most important filter for most searches.
Seniority. The level of the role — individual contributor, manager, director, VP, C-suite, owner. Pair it with title to separate the "Head of Marketing" from the "Marketing Coordinator" when your Boolean catches both.
Company. Target a specific company, or a list of them. This is how you run account-based searches — pick your target accounts and find the right person at each.
Industry. The company's sector. Essential when your product fits some industries and not others. Combine with headcount to isolate, say, "SaaS companies under 200 people."
Location. Country, region, or city. For many businesses location is the hardest filter — you only sell or hire in certain places — so set it first and let it do the heavy narrowing.
Company headcount. The size band of the company (1–10, 11–50, 51–200, and up). A proxy for budget, buying process, and whether your solution fits. Startups and enterprises are different sales entirely.
Connection degree. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degree. 2nd-degree connections — people who share a connection with you — are the sweet spot: reachable, and warm enough that a good opener lands.
Keywords. Free-text match across the profile, for things titles don't capture — a technology they use, a certification, a school, a role they mention in their summary.
How to combine them
Filters stack with AND logic — a prospect has to satisfy all of them. That's powerful and easy to overdo. A search with seven tight filters can return three people; a search with two returns three thousand. The craft is picking the two or three filters that define fit and leaving the rest loose.
A reliable pattern for B2B:
- 1.Location — the geography you actually serve.
- 2.Title (Boolean) — the roles that make the decision.
- 3.One qualifier — headcount, industry, or seniority, whichever best separates fit from not-fit for your offer.
Start there, look at the results, and add a fourth filter only if there's still too much noise.
Free vs. Premium vs. Sales Navigator
The filters available depend on your LinkedIn account. Free search has a solid core set; Sales Navigator adds the deepest filtering. Conextly uses whatever your connected account supports, so upgrading LinkedIn unlocks more filters inside Conextly automatically — and you can do plenty with a free account and a sharp Boolean title.
Save it when it's right
A dialed-in filter set is worth keeping. Save the search and Conextly re-runs it and flags new people as they match — see Saved Searches & New-Match Alerts.
