Getting Started with Conextly

September 4, 2026

Get started with Conextly in one sitting — connect LinkedIn, run your first search, and send your first approved message. A five-minute setup and what to do in your first week.

Getting Started with Conextly

Conextly finds the right people on LinkedIn, tracks them as they move, and drafts a personal first message for each one — and you approve every message before it sends. This guide takes you from a fresh account to your first approved message in about ten minutes.

What Conextly does

Prospecting on LinkedIn is really three jobs stacked on top of each other: finding the right people, keeping track of them so nobody slips through the cracks, and writing a message worth replying to. Sales Navigator does the first well and leaves you the other two. Automation tools do the third fast and put your account at risk. Conextly does all three, at a human pace, with you in the driver's seat.

The shape of it is simple:

  • Find — search LinkedIn by role, company, seniority, location, and dozens of other filters, and save the people who fit.
  • Track — every prospect sits on a pipeline you can see at a glance, and Conextly flags when someone changes jobs, gets promoted, or is due for a follow-up.
  • Draft & Approve — Conextly writes a personal first message for each person, grounded in their actual profile. You read it, edit anything you want, and approve it. Nothing sends without your say-so.

Before you start

You'll need a LinkedIn account you own and access to sign in to it. Conextly works with free LinkedIn, Premium, and Sales Navigator — you don't need the paid tiers, though your account's own limits still apply (more on that in Account Safety & Sending Limits).

Step 1 — Connect your LinkedIn account

Open Settings and connect the LinkedIn account you want to prospect from. Conextly acts as you, from your own session, at a pace that looks like a person using LinkedIn — never a bot firing off actions in bursts. See Connecting Your LinkedIn Account for exactly what the connection does and doesn't do.

Step 2 — Run your first search

Open Find and describe who you're looking for. You can type it in plain terms — "heads of marketing at B2B SaaS companies in the UK" — or build it with filters and a Boolean title string for precision. Conextly returns matching profiles with the signals that matter for outreach: current role, tenure, company, and mutual connections.

Not sure how to phrase a title search? Writing Boolean Searches has copy-paste strings for the most common roles.

Step 3 — Save the people who fit

Add the people who look right to a list. A list is just a named group of prospects — "Q3 agencies," "Warm intros," "Event follow-ups." You'll work through outreach list by list, and lists are how Conextly keeps your pipeline organized. See Building Lists.

Step 4 — Review your drafts

For everyone on your list, Conextly writes a first message drafted from their profile — something specific enough that the person can tell it was written for them, not blasted to a thousand others. Open the queue and you'll see each draft in a pending state, waiting on you.

Step 5 — Approve and send

Read each draft. Tighten a line, swap the opener, or leave it as-is — then approve it. Approved messages send on a natural, spread-out schedule that respects LinkedIn's limits and your account's standing. You stay under the caps without thinking about it. This is the heart of how Conextly works: Approving & Editing Drafts.

Your first week

  • Day 1 — Connect your account, run two or three searches, and build a list of 25–50 strong-fit people.
  • Days 2–5 — Approve a handful of messages each day rather than all at once. A steady trickle is safer for your account and easier to keep personal.
  • Ongoing — Check your pipeline for replies and job-change flags, and let Conextly resurface people who are due for a follow-up.

That's the whole loop: find, track, draft, approve. Everything else in these docs is detail on one of those four steps.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Sales Navigator to use Conextly?
No. Conextly works with free LinkedIn, Premium, and Sales Navigator. It's built as a Sales Navigator alternative, so you get search, tracking, and outreach without the paid tier — though whatever plan you're on, your account's own LinkedIn limits still apply.
Does Conextly send messages automatically?
No. Conextly drafts a personal message for each prospect, but nothing sends until you read and approve it. You can edit any draft before approving, and approved messages go out on a natural, spread-out schedule rather than in bursts.
How long does setup take?
About ten minutes. You connect your LinkedIn account, run a search, save a list of prospects, and approve your first message. From there you approve a few messages a day at whatever pace suits you.
Is Conextly safe for my LinkedIn account?
Conextly acts as you, from your own session, at a human pace, and keeps every action under LinkedIn's limits. There's no bulk automation and no burst activity — the two things that get accounts flagged. You approve every message that sends.
